One of the oldest and most historically important pubs in the beautiful city of York. We’re located right next door to York’s Minster and other breathtaking buildings found in its leafy grounds, making us the perfect place to visit whilst taking in York’s most impressive of landmarks. 

So many of our surrounding buildings bear the historic architecture that York is famous for, creating its unique atmosphere that has made the city world famous. We are a central part of the city’s ghost trail, as there has been many reports of ghost sightings over the years at The Slipper. Today, you don’t need worry about bumping into any former regulars as there was an  actual exorcism performed in 1984. 

As custodians of this special place, we pride ourselves on creating a simple, yet welcoming environment. Our beers, wines and spirits have been very carefully selected. We offer a wonderful selection that we constantly refresh and a small, but perfectly formed food menu that celebrates the best Yorkshire produce and traditional home cooking styles.
